Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)

‼️Sexually transmitted infections that condoms do not fully protect against.

Using condoms is one of the best ways to protect yourself from sexually transmitted infections (STIs). However, they do not provide complete protection against all infections, especially those that are transmitted through skin-to-skin contact.

STIs that condoms do not fully protect against:

  • Human papillomavirus (HPV): can be transmitted through skin areas around the genitals that are not covered by a condom. Vaccination helps prevent many types of HPV.
  • Herpes (HSV): spreads through contact with sores or infected skin that may not be covered by a condom.
  • Syphilis: is transmitted through contact with sores that may be outside the area protected by a condom.
  • Pubic lice (crabs): these parasites can spread through close physical contact, even when condoms are used.

‼️How to protect yourself most effectively.

Although condoms significantly reduce the risk, the best protection is achieved by combining their use with regular testing, vaccination, and open communication with your partner.
